漫步莎莉園（英語：Down by the Salley Gardens，愛爾蘭語：Gort na Saileán）是愛爾蘭詩人威廉·巴特勒·葉芝的一首詩，收錄於1889年出版的詩集《莪相的漫遊及其他（英語：The Wanderings of Oisin and Other Poems）》中。[1]

詩名有「柳園裏」「走過柳園」「莎莉花園」「走過黃柳園」等多種譯名。

歷史[編輯]

葉芝在記錄中將該詩稱為「是對一首老歌進行重現的嘗試，老歌來自於巴利索達爾（英語：Ballisodare）村一個老農婦記憶中不完整的三條線，她經常唱歌給自己聽。」[2]所謂的老歌或許是民謠《快樂的漫步男孩》（The Rambling Boys of Pleasure）[3]，歌詞中包含如下句子：

「Down by yon flowery garden my love and I we first did meet.
I took her in my arms and to her I gave kisses sweet
She bade me take life easy just as the leaves fall from the tree.
But I being young and foolish, with my darling did not agree.」

這4句與葉芝詩中的第一節非常相似，這也暗示了這就是葉芝所聽老婦所唱的那首歌。然而，歌的餘下部分則完全不同。

1895年，這首詩首次刊登時，在現有的標題後面還加上了「老歌新唱」（“An Old Song Re-Sung”）這行字。[4]

She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.
In a field by the river my love and I did stand,
And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.
She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs;

地點[編輯]

據信莎莉園（Salley Gardens）就在巴利索達爾（英語：Ballisodare）的河岸邊，岸邊種植了居民用以蓋屋頂的樹木。[6][7]「Salley」或「sally」是標準英語詞彙「sallow」（黃華柳）的另一種形式。它與意為柳樹的愛爾蘭詞彙saileach發音相近。

配曲[編輯]

1909年，詩詞被赫伯特·休斯(作曲家)（英語：Herbert Hughes (musicologist)）加入了抒情調音樂《穆爾洛赫湖岸（英語：The Moorlough Shore）》中。[1]20世紀20年代，作曲家麗貝卡·克拉克（1886年——1979年）將其加進了自己的音樂。[8]作曲家約翰·艾爾蘭（1879年——1962年）將詩詞配上旋律加進了他作於1929年至1931年的聲樂套曲《聖歌與俗歌（英語：Songs Sacred and Profane）》之中。[9][10]1938年，出版了由作曲家艾弗·格尼（英語：Ivor Gurney）作曲的歌曲版本。[11]1943年，本傑明·布里頓為這首詩譜過曲。[12]1988年，美國作曲家約翰·科里利亞諾出版了此詩的配樂版本。[13]

實際使用[編輯]

此曲曾在英女皇訪港（1986年10月21日 [14]） ，她離開香港大會堂演奏廳時演奏。此曲也是無印良品的店鋪背景音樂之一。
