Français : La tour, son avant-mur et l’anneau figurent comme emblème sur les sceaux de la Ville de Fribourg dès le XIIIe siècle; à partir du XVIIe siècle, cet emblème fut souvent écartelé avec les armoiries de Fribourg (le coupé de sable et d’argent qui est devenu l’écu cantonal) ; ce ne fut qu’en 1803 qu’il devint le blason officiel de la Ville
