Troy Township is one of the fifteen townships of Ashland County, 俄亥俄州, 美國. As of the 2010 census the population was 1,132.[3]
地理
[編輯]Located in the northern part of the county, 與以下鎮區接壤:
- Rochester Township, Lorain County - 北
- Huntington Township, Lorain County - 北east corner
- Sullivan Township - 東
- Orange Township - 南
- Ruggles Township - 西
- New London Township, Huron County - 北west corner
No municipalities are located in Troy Township, although the unincorporated community of Nova is located in the center of the township.
Name and history
[編輯]It is one of seven Troy Townships statewide.[4]
The township was first surveyed in 1806, at which time the territory was composed of thick woods, but not officially organized or named until 1835. It was named for the dog of an early settler.[5]
Troy Township was organized as part of Lorain County, and then it was added to Ashland County when it was formed on February 24, 1846 from portions of Huron, Lorain, Richland, and Wayne counties.[6]
政府
[編輯]鎮區有3人組成的理事會管理。理事會理事選舉在奇數年11月舉行,並在來年1月1日開始四年任期。兩名理事的選舉在總統選舉後一年舉行,另一名的選舉在總統選舉前一年舉行。鎮區財務官亦由選舉產生[7],與一名鎮區理事選舉同時舉行,不過在來年4月1日才開始四年任期。若財務官或理事職位有空缺,將由剩餘理事填補。
