English: One of the columns at Tartini Square with a depiction of a winged lion, the symbol of St. Mark the Evangelist, the patron of Venice. The Latin inscription translates: "Look at the winged lion, grabbing territories, seas, and stars." On special occasions, the column beared the flag of Venice.
