南極冰蓋

南極冰蓋是地球上的兩個極地冰蓋（英語：Polar ice cap）之一。它覆蓋了南極大陸的大約98%（1400萬平方公里）的面積，體積是2650萬立方公里，是地球上面積最大的單一冰塊^[1]。一立方公里的冰大約有一公噸重，這意味著南極冰蓋的重量為26,500,000公噸。地球上所有淡水的大約61%位於南極洲的冰層中，若全部融化，相當於海平面上升大約58米^[2]。
