About me

Hi, my name is Isaac Chabota Kanguya aka Icem4k. I am an enthusiastic contributor to various language editions of Wikipedia, including Chi-Chewa Wikipedia, English Wikipedia, and occasionally Simple English Wikipedia. My dedication to spreading knowledge and facilitating easy access to information drives my involvement in these platforms. I was born on February 20th in the town of Mumbwa, a place that holds a special significance in shaping my perspective. Through my contributions, I aim to bridge language gaps and make valuable insights accessible to a diverse range of readers.

My work

In the Wikimedia world, I have been actively engaged in various impactful initiatives. In 2018, I participated in WikiGoesACCT in Uganda, contributing to the collaborative spirit that defines the Wikimedia community. Moreover, my dedication led me to take the lead in hosting the Wiki Loves Africa events in both 2019 and 2020, fostering cultural awareness and diversity through the lens of photography in Zambia.

Building on this momentum, I extended my commitment to environmental conservation by organizing the Wiki Loves Earth events in Zambia for both 2022 and 2023. These initiatives have not only showcased the breathtaking natural beauty of Zambia but have also highlighted the Wikimedia movement's dedication to preserving our planet's treasures.

Beyond these remarkable endeavors, I am also proud to be affiliated with prominent institutions such as the Women's History Museum and the Swedish Embassy, reflecting my passion for history, culture, and international collaboration.

As part of my ongoing commitment to enhancing the Wikimedia community's impact, I am actively working towards the establishment of the Wikimedia Community User Group Zambia. This platform will serve as a hub for collaboration, learning, and knowledge sharing among like-minded individuals who share the goal of advancing Wikimedia's mission.

Outside of my Wikimedia involvement, I maintain a multifaceted professional life. Since 2016, I have been contributing my expertise as a Computer Operator at the Zambia National Service, playing a role in the technological advancement of my country. Additionally, I have assumed the vital position of Chief Operating Officer at Chalo Chatu, further showcasing my ability to drive organizational success.

In all of these capacities, I am dedicated to making a meaningful impact, whether through my Wikimedia contributions or my roles in the broader professional landscape. I am excited to continue this journey of growth, collaboration, and positive change.
