寂靜黑暗樂團（Dark Tranquillity）是一支來自瑞典哥登堡的旋律死亡金屬樂團。他們是斯堪的納維亞死亡金屬中成立最久的樂團之一，同時與烈焰邪神與 At the Gates 被視為旋律死亡金屬的先驅。

樂團在1989年成立，當初團名是 Septic Broiler，並且是演奏鞭笞金屬。 自從成立之後，樂團成員就很少變動。1990年，樂團錄製了一張 demo 名為《Enfeebled Earth》，這時他們尚未改變團名以及演奏風格。接著又錄製了兩張 Demo：《Trail of Life Decayed》(1991)和《A Moonclad Reflection》(1992)，之後這兩張都於2004年重新發行。1993年，原主唱 Anders Fridén 在發行了《Skydancer》後便離開了樂團，而且加入了烈焰邪神。[1] 之後，原來擔任節奏吉他及合聲的 Mikael Stanne 成為新的主唱，另外加入了新的節奏吉他手 Fredrik Johansson。
1995年，樂團發行了《The Gallery》，這張專輯被人們稱為哥德堡金屬的經典作品。
在發行《邪惡計謀》這張專輯之前（之後這張專輯獲得瑞典葛萊美獎提名），Fredrik Johansson 因為失去熱忱而離開樂團。[1] Martin Henriksson 從貝斯轉為 Johansson 原本擔任的節奏吉他，新加入了貝斯手 Michael Nicklasson 和鍵盤手 Martin Brändström。同時樂團也與 Century Media Records 簽下合約。之後，樂團就維持這樣的陣容以及音樂風格直到2008年：融合快速的吉他聲線與和諧的電子鍵盤，還有在 Stanne 抽象咆哮的歌詞之下極度精準的節奏。[2]
1995年到2002年，樂團的所有專輯都是由知名的旋律死亡金屬專輯製作人 Fredrik Nordström 製作。2002年之後，專輯都由樂團自己製作。直到2007年發行的《虛構死亡紀事》這張專輯，是樂團與另一位知名的專輯製作人 Tue Madsen 共同製作。
樂團已經與猛鬼入侵樂團（The Haunted）、永劫回歸樂團（Into Eternity）和 Scar Symmetry 參加北美的「Metal For The Masses」巡迴演唱。 [3] 2008年春天他們與邪神大敵回到美國，另外，他們也與 Omnium Gatherum 前往英國表演。預計將在今年發行一張現場DVD。
貝斯手 Michael Nicklasson 因個人因素，感覺與樂團之間沒有太深刻的感情，而在2008年8月離團，樂團在8月23日於官網上公布。
9月19日，新貝斯手 Daniel Antonsson 加入。
