2002年，布莱奇·F·舒特（Bragi F. Schut）根据伯兰·史杜克创作的1897年小说《德古拉》的章节《船长日志》编写了《德米特号：噬血航程》的初始剧本，由罗伯特·史温凯执导，而史温凯与米奇·布莱恩共同重写了剧本[3]。然而，该片陷入约二十年的开发地狱制作困境中，不少导演也曾经参与了电影的开发，包括斯戴芬·卢佐维茨基、马可斯·尼斯佩、大卫·斯雷德和尼尔·马歇尔。劳米·拉佩斯和本·金斯利曾一度确定出演，而维戈·莫滕森正在商谈出演[4][5][6][7]。
2019年10月，宣布由安德烈·欧弗兰多执导，安倍林集团获得改编版权[8]。2021年1月，柯瑞·霍金斯加入演出阵容，并由扎克·奥尔科维奇（Zak Olkewicz）撰写新的剧本草稿[9]。2021年6月，大卫·达斯马齐连、利亚姆·坎宁安、艾琳·佛朗西丝、杰维尔·伯特、强·强·布里欧内斯、史提芬·卡皮契、尼古拉·尼库拉夫、胡迪·诺曼、马丁·弗鲁伦德（Martin Furulund）和克里斯·华利加入演出阵容[10]。

该片于2021年6月30日在柏林开始进行主体拍摄，其后于马耳他进行拍摄，并于2021年10月1日杀青[11][12]。

在美国和加拿大，《德米特号：噬血航程》与《朱尔斯》一起上映，外界预估本片能在2715家影院获得600万至1100万美元的票房[16]。本片在周四晚间的预映收入75万美元[1]。
评价[编辑]
电影在烂番茄网站上基于135篇影评，新鲜度52%，平均得分5.7／10；该网站共识：“《德米特号：噬血航程》为广为人知的德古拉故事发掘了崭新视角，但平淡的执行能力往往削弱了故事幽闭恐怖的紧张感。”[17]在Metacritic上，电影根据23位影评的打分而获得48分（满分100），代表“评价褒贬不一”[18] 。
恐怖作家斯蒂芬·金和电影导演吉列尔莫·德尔托罗都对《德米特号：噬血航程》表示赞赏。金称其为“令人心碎的美好时光”，令他想起了“60和70年代最盛行的汉默电影”。“非常”喜欢本片的戴托罗赞赏：“华丽、丰富又野蛮！！”[19]
