殖民
殖民，也稱殖民化是指一種大規模的人口流動，其中移民與其遷移前的（或其祖先的）祖國保持密切聯繫，並藉助這種聯繫獲取高於地區內其他居民的特權。殖民發生在殖民主義結構的保護下時，稱為定居殖民主義。該過程中，定居者通常會剝奪原住民的財產，或建立系統性地使原住民處於不利地位的法律和其他社會結構。[1]
就其基本意義，殖民可以定義為從國外控制目標領土或人民以進行耕種的過程，通常藉助建立殖民地的方式進行，並可能在當地定居。
西歐國家在美洲、澳大利亞和紐西蘭建立的殖民地中，遷入的定居者（以中歐、東歐、亞洲和非洲人民為補充）殺害、同化或驅逐土著居民後，最終構成了當地人口的絕大部分。而在另一些殖民地，西歐定居者雖然是少數群體，但通常支配著非西歐的多數人口。[2]
在歐洲殖民大洋洲的澳大利亞、紐西蘭等地的期間，探險家和殖民者常將這些陸地視為「無主地」，拉丁語名「terra nullius」，意為「空地」。[3]由於當地沒有西方的農業技術，歐洲人認為這片土地未經人類改變，因此儘管存在土著居民，但視之為「無人居住」。19世紀，墨西哥的《一般殖民法》和美國的「昭昭天命」等法律和思想鼓勵了對美洲殖民（自15世紀開始）的深化。儘管自1946年以來，聯合國就殖民地國家和人民的獨立發表了大量聲明和公投，但世界上仍有60多個殖民地（有時被指定為領土），包括波多黎各、關島和百慕達。[4][5][6]
詞源[編輯]
英文中表示「殖民」的詞「colonization」源自拉丁語colere（意為「耕種」）、 [7]「colonia」（「包含大量土地的地產」、「農場」）和「colonus」（「耕種者」、「農民」)，[8]而引申為「定居」。[9]從事殖民的人被為殖民者，而被殖民的人為被殖民者[10][11]）。
