芬多精

芬多精英语:Phytoncide)是植物所排放的抗菌英语Antimicrobial挥发性有機化合物。大多種植物都具有防御霉菌细菌的芬多精。Phytoncide一詞最早是於1930年由俄羅斯國立列寧格勒大學生化學教授Boris P. Tokin博士提出,他發現有些植物會釋放高活性的物質,避免植物本身腐爛或被動物或昆蟲所食。

香辛料洋蔥大蒜茶樹油橡樹雪松松屬等植物都會分泌芬多精。橡樹分泌的物質稱為 greenery alcohol,大蒜含有大蒜素二烯丙基二硫苦参含有槐黄烷酮G英语sophoraflavanone G,松屬會釋放alpha-蒎烯英语pinene3-蒈烯香叶烯及其他萜烯。以柳杉為主的針葉林,其芬多精主要以檸檬烯為主;至於樟樹較多的闊葉林則是以芳樟醇成分居多。

植物會釋放超過5,000種的挥发性物質來對抗細菌真菌昆蟲,芬多精可以避免這些生物的擴散。

芬多精廣為應用在俄羅斯、烏克蘭、中國及日本的醫學中,包括替代医学芳香療法兽医学等。
