English: The Jewel of Muscat, a dhow built in Qantab, Muscat Governorate, Oman, between 2008 and 2010 as a joint project of the Governments of Oman and Singapore. It was modelled after the Belitung shipwreck, a 9th-century Arabian dhow. The Jewel of Muscat sailed from Oman on 16 February 2010, visiting Kochi, India; Galle, Sri Lanka; and George Town, Penang, and Port Klang in Malaysia. It arrived in Singapore on 3 July 2010, where it was handed over to the people of Singapore as a gift from Oman. |
