凤凰座矮星系是一个不规则星系，也是一个矮星系，汉斯-埃米尔·舒斯特和理察·马丁·威斯特在1976年发现的该天体，但是当时误认为是一个球状星团。它与地球的距离约为144万光年，名称则是因为它在凤凰座的缘故。
