2018年5月9日，NBC预订了《法网游龙：特案组》第二十季[12]。7月16日开始新季制作[13]。7月12日，执行制片人茱莉亚·马丁（英语：Julie Martin (writer)）在推特上发布了一张剧本照片，表示两个小时连续首播集的第一个小时将暂定命名为《Man Up》[14]。8月14日，马丁透露本季第4集《复仇》将呈现一个“精心设计、令人坐立不安的转折”，本集中还会看到凯莉·索恩（英语：Callie Thorne）客串辩护律师尼基·斯坦斯[15]。前季中未播出的奥利维亚·本森和儿子诺亚在一起的一个情节将重新拍摄，并放在本季中播出[16]。在本季后期，将介绍即将开播的新剧《法网游龙：仇恨犯罪》中的角色[17]。
