薇拉在加利福尼亞州的橙市出生。她的父親雷夫·約瑟夫·薇拉（Rev. Joseph Villa）是阿根廷後裔，她的母親米爾德里德·安吉拉·皮爾斯·薇拉（Mildred Angela Pierce Villa）是非裔美國人與美國原住民喬克托族的後代。 她的外祖父是爵士樂歌手肯尼·哈古德（Kenny Hagood）。[3] 高中在隆波克高中（Lompoc High School）就讀。[4]

2017年10月26日她在推特上表示，她反對墮胎，支持美國憲法第二修正案，支持稅收改革，支持宗教自由，反對人口販賣，反對非法移民。[21]

2017年11月28日，薇拉向警方投訴，指控川普的前競選經理科里·萊萬多夫斯基（Corey Lewandowski）在華盛頓特區川普酒店的假日派對上對她拍屁股。她承認，她過了一個月才和警方交談。[27][28]薇拉聲稱，在她告訴他可以舉報他性騷擾後，萊萬多夫斯基說，「我在私營部門工作」，並又打了她一巴掌。[29]萊萬多夫斯基在回應這些指控時說，「有正當的司法和調查程序，調查和司法人員將通過這程序來還一個人的清白。」[30]
