根據1969年的研究，隨着男性的年齡增長，精子的濃度會下降，該研究報告稱20歲至39歲的男性中，90%的細精管含有精子，而40歲至59歲有50%的細精管含有精子，在男性超過80歲後，只有10%的細精管含有精子[1][2]
