帝國石油有限公司（英語：Imperial Oil Limited；法語：Compagnie Pétrolière Impériale Ltée ）是加拿大卡爾加里的一家大型石油公司，由美國埃克森美孚控股。該公司生產原油、瀝青和天然氣，並在全加拿大銷售。埃索在加拿大的加油站由其運營。 公司大部分石油來自艾伯塔省的油砂[1]和西北地區的諾曼韋爾斯油田[2]。
歷史[編輯]
1880年4月，雅各布·路易斯·恩格爾哈特（Jacob Lewis Englehart）與倫敦、彼得羅利亞的16位煉油商成立了帝國石油公司，對標標準石油公司[3]。恩格爾哈特效仿洛克菲勒，希望把整個加拿大石油工業合併為一個集團[4]。儘管安大略省的大多數大型石油生產商都同意加入，但遭到當時加拿大最大的石油生產商約翰·亨利·費爾班克和加拿大石油公司（Canadian Oil Company）的創始人詹姆斯·米勒·威廉姆斯等的拒絕[5]。新成立的公司擁有十二家煉油廠，控制着加拿大85%的石油產能[6]。
儘管開局順利，但帝國石油公司在1880年代初期馬上遭遇危機[7]。賓夕法尼亞州和紐約州新油田的發現壓低了石油價格，標準石油信託基金的成立導致加拿大從美國進口的石油增加[7]。帝國石油因此關閉了12家煉油廠中的10家，只留下彼得羅利亞的銀星（Silver Star）煉油廠和倫敦的維克多煉油廠[7]。1883年，維克多工廠被閃電擊中並燒毀，公司將所有精力投入彼得羅利亞[5][8]。
由於標準石油公司的競爭，雖然帝國石油在加拿大西部市場佔據主導地位，但在濱海諸省、魁北克都難以立足[9]。1895年，帝國石油公司的董事會開始考慮將公司賣給英國的殖民地發展公司（Colonial Development Corporation）[10]，但三年後交易告吹，董事會轉而選擇將公司出售給標準石油公司[10]。標準石油公司收購了帝國石油公司75%的股份[10][11]，交易完成後帝國石油關閉了銀星煉油廠，並將其煉油業務遷至薩尼亞市[10]。
1911年由於美國反托拉斯，美國最高法院命令標準石油公司拆分為34家獨立的公司。帝國石油公司的所有權，以及標準石油公司在美國以外的其他子公司，都轉移給了澤西標準公司（Jersey Standard；後來的埃克森美孚）。 [12]
