詹姆斯·巴爾 (聖經學者)

詹姆斯·巴爾（James Barr，1924年3月20日—2006年10月14日）是一名蘇格蘭舊約聖經學者。他在牛津大學期間，於1976年至1978年是奧利爾釋經學教授，1978年至1989年則擔任希伯來語教授。

生平

巴爾出生在蘇格蘭格拉斯哥（一說愛丁堡），)青年時期在Daniel Stewart's college和愛丁堡大學接受教育。巴爾於1951年被按立為蘇格蘭教會牧師。他先後在愛丁堡大學新學院、曼徹斯特大學、普林斯頓神學院、范德堡大學擔任教職。他在牛津大學期間，於1976年至1978年是奧利爾釋經學教授，1978年至1989年則擔任希伯來語教授。

巴爾是直言不諱的批判保守福音派。1977年，巴爾出版了《基要派》一書，系統批判基督教基要派。 特別是他批評了一些福音派學者像詹姆斯·I·巴刻對聖經無誤論的支持，這一教條宣稱聖經里是沒有任何錯誤的。然而，他對福音派基督徒中他認為嚴謹的學者，例如 F.F.布魯斯和唐納德*格思里有很高的評價。巴爾還寫過幾本有關福音基要派的書，包括《The Scope and Authority of the Bible》（1980年）和《逃離基要主義》（Escaping Fundamentalism）（1984年）。

巴爾1950年和Jane Hepburn結婚，他們有兩個兒子和一個女兒。
