欧洲棕熊（Ursus arctos arctos）是棕熊种群数量最多的一个亚种[2]，现在主要分布于北欧和东欧。其雄性体重可达481千克，身长接近2.5米，但正常情况下要小得多，雌性则更小。[3]
历史[编辑]
不列颠在公元前1000年前存在欧洲棕熊，但后来被捕杀殆尽[4]。而欧洲大陆上的欧洲棕熊则一直存在着，古罗马时代还被用作竞技场的斗兽[5]。相较北美洲的棕熊（如科迪亚克棕熊）而言，欧洲棕熊的危险性较小，斯堪的纳维亚在20世纪仅有三人死于棕熊的袭击。[6]
