500 Miles (歌曲)
《500 Miles》，又称500 Miles Away from Home或Railroaders' Lament，是始于20世纪60年代的一首歌曲。歌曲表现的是身无分文的旅人远离家乡、羞于回家的感慨。
历史
[编辑]人们一般认为这首歌是由海蒂·韦斯特创作的[1][2][3]。也有人认为 Curly Williams以及约翰·菲利普斯是该歌曲的共同创作者，[4]不过约翰·菲利普斯表示他只是对这首歌重新编曲，所以并不是这首歌曲的创作者。[5]大卫·尼尔 (David Neale) 表示，《500 Miles》可能源自民歌《900 Miles》（劳德民歌索引 4959）[6]，而《900 Miles》本身又源自美国南部的小提琴曲《Reuben's Train》和《Train 45》。[4][7]20世纪70年代初，约翰尼·卡什将《500 Miles》列入了他推出的100首必听乡村歌曲名单中。[8]
《500 Miles》的旋律与《You’ll Never Miss Your Mother Till She’s Gone》非常接近。《You’ll Never Miss Your Mother Till She’s Gone》由哈里·伯奇（Harry Birch）创作，1885年由马萨诸塞州波士顿的怀特史密斯公司（White, Smith）发行[9] 。

Nine Hundred Miles is a lament of a traveller far from home that is from the beginning of the last century or earlier. Hedy West rewrote this song as Five Hundred Miles with a different tune but several overlapping verses.
