''Daichi no Ko'' ({{CJKV|j=大地の子|s=大地之子|l=The Son of Earth}}) is a novel by Yamasaki Toyoko about Japanese orphans left in Northwestern China after WWII. He met visiting nurse Jiang Yuemei there. Ludezhi learnd about his adopted son from Jiang, and worked connection to get Lu Yixin back to a city job. After Cultural Revolution, Yixin and Yuemei had a daughter. During his work on construction of a steel work. Yixin met Japanese engineer Matsumoto Koji, his biological father, and found his lost sister Atsuko. But years of poverty made Atsuko frail and she died soon after reconstruction is completed. After her death Yixin finally recognized his biological father....
