圖布人（Toubou，古圖布語則稱Tubu，意思是「岩石人」 [8] ）是起源於提貝斯提山脈[9]的一個民族，居住在查德北部、利比亞南部、尼日東北部和蘇丹西北部的撒哈拉中部地區。他們以牧民和游牧者的身份生活，或者靠農業生活。他們的社會以氏族為基礎，每個氏族都持有一定的綠洲、水井和牧場。 [10]
圖布人分為兩個密切相關的群體：特達人（或泰達、圖達、托達、蒂拉）和達扎人（或達扎加、達扎加達、達扎加拉）。據信他們有共同的起源並講特布語，該語言屬於尼羅-撒哈拉語系撒哈拉語支。 [11]特布語進一步分為兩種密切相關的方言，稱為泰達加語（Tedaga）和達薩加語（Dazaga or Gouran）。在這兩個族群中，位於泰達河以南的達薩族人數較多。 [12]
