吉布於1958年在英格蘭曼徹斯特市出生。在他六個月大時，他就跟隨其家人移民到澳洲。他們定居於布里斯班以北的Cribb Island。
他經常被提議加入成為比吉斯樂隊的一員，但因為他與兄長們年紀差距太大的關係（安迪比其長兄年輕11歲），令到這個主意難以達成。 安迪˙吉布於1988年猝死享年30歲,2003年莫里斯˙吉布因手術失敗過世2012年羅賓˙吉布與病魔抗戰失敗享年62歲現在傳奇四兄弟只剩66歲的巴里˙吉布○
