反向重复序列

反向重复序列(英文:Inverted repeat)是单链的核苷酸序列,其上游与下游的核苷酸是反向互补的序列。[1]起始序列和反向互补序列之间的核苷酸插入序列可以是任何长度,包括零。例如,5'---TTACGnnnnnnCGTAA---3' 是反向重复序列。而当插入序列长度为零时,该复合序列为回文序列[2]

反向重复和定向重复序列均构成重复出现的核苷酸序列的类型。
