夜鹦鹉（学名：Pezoporus occidentalis），又名夜行鹦鹉，是澳洲特有的一种细小鹦鹉。它们原先是分类在独自的属中（Geopsittacus）[3][4]，但很多学者都将它们连同地栖鹦鹉分类在Pezoporus之中。[5]虎皮鹦鹉亦是它们的远亲。
于1912年至1979年没有见到夜鹦鹉，引起认为它们已经灭绝的推测。自1979年就已经极少见到它们，而它们的数量不明。最近一次的活体观察记录是在2017年，于西澳大利亚的布鲁姆被拍摄到。

夜鹦鹉较为细小，主要呈黄绿色，有深褐色、黑色及黄色的斑点。它们的尾巴较地栖鹦鹉的短，而栖息地及分布亦有所不同。它们主要是领域性的，只会在受惊或寻找水源时才会飞到空中。它们主要在夜间活动，且鬼鬼祟祟。它们喜欢生活在澳洲内陆的干旱地方。
保育状况[编辑]
夜鹦鹉的数量不明，估计状况介乎灭绝至无危。世界自然保护联盟将它们列为濒危。
自1880年代起，就只有少量可靠的观察报告，最近的是于2006年在昆士兰西南部发现夜鹦鹉的尸体标本。[6][7][8]之前于2005年，在西澳州的皮尔巴拉观察到三只夜鹦鹉。[8][9]于1990年在昆士兰的偏远地区亦发现了一只尸体[8][10]，及于1979年一队南澳博物馆的科学家在南澳州北部见到一群类似的夜鹦鹉。鸟类学家一直在寻找活生生的夜鹦鹉，甚至在斑胸草雀的巢中去寻找夜鹦鹉的羽毛。
