美洲拟啄木鸟属（學名：Capito，台湾作美洲擬鴷屬）是鴷形目美洲拟啄木鸟科下的一個屬。[2]本屬鳥類主要分布於巴拿馬以南的南美洲地區。[3]其鳥喙粗壯、鼻孔呈圓形，尾巴長度不到翅膀的三分之二，羽毛的性別差異極小。[4][3]通常牠們會具有白色的眉紋、臉側黑色、白色的喉部與黃色胸腹間有一道紅色橫紋區隔兩者等共有特徵。[4]
命名與分類[编辑]
本屬由法國鳥類學家路易·皮埃爾·維埃約於1816年為红喉拟啄木鸟建立，其模式種也因此為該物種。[1][2][5]其學名Capito來自拉丁語capito，意指「大頭的」。[6]
在生物分類學中，本屬與黃嘴鬚鴷屬鳥類為姊妹群。[7]該兩屬與目前獨立一科的巨嘴擬鴷屬鳥類一同代表了南美洲的擬鴷族群。[8]
