工作生涯[编辑]

她于 1976 - 78 年间在赫伯·鲁柏林手下担任资深设计师，发现到字型是一种表现工具，奠定了后期作品的基调。^[1] 在替赫伯·鲁柏林工作之前，她曾替克诺夫进行过一些特别的书籍专案工作。

在 1978-1989 年间，斐莉是万神殿书屋出版社的艺术总监，此时她避免使用标准字体，而偏好替每一件书封建立独特的字形。她替玛格丽特·杜拉斯的畅销书《爱人》所设计的书封大获成功，让她在万神殿书屋得到更多的创作自由。她在这家出版社的工作生涯中总共设计了接近两千本书。^[2]

1989 年，她建立了自己的工作室，路薏丝·斐莉有限公司，专营餐厅商标与食品包装的设计。路薏丝说：“我开始创业时几乎什么都不知道。我只知道要维持小规模，同时也一直如此。我也想要专注在三件我感兴趣的东西上：食物、字型以及有关意大利的所有东西。”^[3] 在那个时代，女性经营的公司非常少，所以她知道用自己的名字来替公司命名可能会带来不便。不过她决定要发出讯息：“如果你对我身为女性有意见，那我就不要你来当我的客户。”^[4] 她替纽约市的许多小餐厅设计过商标，像是 Picholine, Artisanal, The Mermaid Inn, 以及 Via Carota 等等，并且替 Sarabeth’s, Tate’s 与 Bella Cucina 设计过包装。她的几何型设计—经常是方形外观—显示出她对欧洲现代主义的偏好，特别是，卢西恩·伯恩哈德、卡桑德尔、和让·卡吕以及 1930 年代的意大利风格海报。

2009 年她重新设计 Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval（英语：Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval）一百周年纪念专刊。

2004 年，斐莉进入艺术总监俱乐部名人堂。2015 年，她获得样式总监俱乐部颁发的终生成就奖。她也获得三次詹姆士比尔德奖提名，而自 1998 年开始，她就是国际平面设计联盟的成员。

斐莉在视觉艺术学院教了超过 20 年的书，在大学部与研究所课程开课，同时每个夏天都会在罗马的 SVA 大师工作坊开课。
