足鲆为辐鳍鱼纲鲽形目鲽亚目鲆科的其中一种，为热带海水鱼，分布于东大西洋区，从茅利塔尼亚至安哥拉，包括地中海海域，栖息深度15-400公尺，体长可达45公分，栖息在沙泥底质底层水域，以小鱼及无脊椎动物为食，繁殖期在5至8月，生活习性不明，可做为食用鱼及观赏鱼。
