塞繆爾·梅里爾·伍德布里奇（英語：Samuel Merrill Woodbridge，1819年4月5日—1905年6月23日）牧師是美國神職人員、神學家、作家兼大學教授。從紐約大學和新不倫瑞克神學院畢業後，伍德布里奇成為美國歸正會神職人員並宣講16年。接下來他定居新澤西州新不倫瑞克，在新不倫瑞克神學院教授教會歷史和教政體制44年，同時還為羅格斯學院（今羅格斯大學）新不倫瑞克分校教授形上學和心靈哲學七年。1883至1901年，伍德布里奇當上新不倫瑞克神學院院長兼教務長。他一生共有三部著作，還有多篇布道和講演出版，內容涵蓋基督教信仰、神學、教會歷史和教政體制等範疇。

1819年4月5日，塞繆爾·梅里爾·伍德布里奇在馬薩諸塞州格林菲爾德出生。他的父親是神學博士西爾維斯特·伍德布里奇牧師（Rev. Sylvester Woodbridge, D.D.，1790至1863年），母親伊麗莎白·古爾德（Elizabeth Gould）於1851年去世。夫妻兩人共有六個孩子，塞繆爾排列第三。[1][2]:140據1907年《蒙西雜誌》（Munsey's Magazine）出版的族譜圖記載，伍德布里奇家族從15世紀下半葉開始代代都是神職人員，塞繆爾已是第11代[3][4]，祖上最早一代神職人員是生於1493年的約翰·伍德布里奇牧師（Rev. John Woodbridge），是約翰·威克里夫的追隨者[3][4]。

伍德布里奇進入紐約大學並於1838年獲文學士學位[1]，接受本科教育期間，他曾是該校只准男子進入的秘密組織歐拉學會成員，後又入選全美大學優等生榮譽協會（Phi Beta Kappa）[1]。1841年，他從新不倫瑞克神學院獲文學碩士學位，然後當上紐約歸正教會牧師，該理事機構負責監督紐約地區所有歸正教堂[3][5]:4。同時母校紐約大學也把他的文學士學位提升成文學碩士[1]。從神學院畢業後，伍德布里奇於1841至1849年出任南布魯克林海灣嶺聯合教堂牧師，再於1849至1852年擔任格林縣柯薩奇（Coxsackie）第二歸正教堂牧師，1852至1857年又任新澤西州新不倫瑞克第二歸正教堂牧師[1][5]。

1857年12月，伍德布里奇獲委派成為新不倫瑞克兩所學府的教師，分別是新不倫瑞克神學院教會歷史和教政體制教授（1857至1901年，共任職44年），以及羅格斯學院形上學和心靈哲學教授（1857至1864年，共任職七年）[1][3][5][6]:40, 397[注 1]。兩校此時都是新教荷蘭歸正會附屬學府[7][注 2]。教會會議此舉是為了填補空缺，之前出任兩校教授職務的約翰·拉德洛牧師（Rev. John Ludlow, D.D.）於1857年9月8日去世[8]:128。在神學院任教期間，伍德布里奇還會講授田園神學、教授學和辯證神學，特別是在對應職務出缺的時候[8]:414–415[9]。

1883年，教區總會決定由「新不倫瑞克神學院最年長的在職教授出任院長，讓他負責學院的教學紀律，這些紀律由全體教師共同決定」[8]:134。伍德布里奇因此成為神學院首任院長，隨後又當上教務長直至1901年退休，這兩個職位都是如今該院院長的前身[10]。此外，他還曾於1858年獲聯合學院神學博士名譽學位，1841、1857和1883年分別獲得羅格斯學院文學碩士、神學博士和法學博士名譽學位[6]:339, 346, 362。1901年，已82歲高齡的伍德布里奇以榮休教授職位退休[1]。

伍德布里奇結過兩次婚，1845年2月他迎娶卡羅琳·卑爾根（Caroline Bergen），同年兩人的獨女卡羅琳·伍德布里奇（Caroline Woodbridge）出生。1861年卑爾根去世後，伍德布里奇於1866年12月20日續弦娶安娜·維特克·代頓（Anna Wittaker Dayton，1823–1920年）為妻，兩人育有二女，長女安娜·代頓·伍德布里奇（Anna Dayton Woodbridge）於1869年出世，次女瑪麗·伊麗莎白·伍德布里奇（Mary Elizabeth Woodbridge）在1872年誕生[1][2]:192。

1905年6月23日，塞繆爾·梅里爾·伍德布里奇在新不倫瑞克辭世，享年86歲[1]，遺體葬在位於新不倫瑞克以南、北不倫瑞克鎮埃爾姆伍德公墓的伍德布里奇家族墓地[11]。據教會史學家查爾斯·愛德華·科溫（Charles Edward Corwin）記載，伍德布里奇個性很強，「能將枯燥的主題化腐朽為神奇」，「信仰非常堅定的同時又抱有慈悲心腸，即使面對那些他覺得很危險的觀點也能保持友善」[3]。
