蟪蛄屬（學名：Platypleura），又名蛥蚗。遍佈於非洲和亞洲南方等地，一些南非的物種因為能夠行使吸熱反應的體溫調節以探知黃昏的到來，這項能力可以減少被掠食的風險並增加其嗚叫的範圍。在一些田間試驗裏，它們在黃昏時嗚叫，體溫最高可高出周圍攝氏溫度22 °C（72 °F）以上。[7][8]
