蛇鷲科是鷹形目的一個科，只有一個現存物種——原產於非洲的蛇鷲。還有另外兩個已滅絕的屬Pelargopappus（中新世法國）、Amanuensis（中新世非洲）。該科由奧托·芬奇和古斯塔夫·哈特勞布命名於1870年，作為一個亞科Sagittariinae。[3][4]
