鸚鵡總科（學名：Psittacoidea）是一個鸚形目下的總科。[2]該總科為狹義上的鸚鵡，英文俗稱「真鸚鵡」（True parrot），可視為在2013—2014年拆分前的金刚鹦鹉科，目前包含已絕滅的物種在內共囊括了91屬382種鸚鵡。[3][4][5]
分類學[编辑]
這個總科是鸚形目三個總科中（另外兩種是鴞鸚鵡總科及鳳頭鸚鵡總科）下分支演化出最多物種的一個總科。[6]其中鴞鸚鵡總科是最為基礎的枝幹，牠們約在8200萬年前分支；而鳳頭鸚鵡總科則是在約5900—5000萬年前的始新世時期開始脫離鸚鵡總科分化的。[6][7]而鸚鵡總科本身則約在4070萬年前，當澳洲從南極洲和南美洲西側分離時，開始分化成新世界鸚鵡科及舊世界鸚鵡科的。[7]
