HD 50281 是一个位于麒麟座附近的联星系统,由一颗橙矮星和一颗红矮星组成。主星色调为橙色,视星等为6.58[2],处于或低于肉眼可见度的典型极限。根据视差,这颗恒星距离太阳28.5光年,但正在以-7.2 公里/秒的视向速度靠近[4]。
主星是一颗普通的K型主序星,恒星分类为K3.5 V[3]。它已有近 20 亿年的历史,并以5.5 公里/秒的预计自转速度自转[6]。主星的金属量接近太阳。该恒星具有太阳质量的79%[6]和太阳半径的73%[1]。它从光球层发射出太阳光度的22.5%[1],有效温度为4,712 K。[7]。
伴星为一颗视星等为10.16 的普通自行恒星[10]。
