英國君主的頭銜稱號
多年以來，每位英國君主的頭銜都會有所不同。現任國王查爾斯三世的頭銜為:

君主稱號[編輯]
都鐸王朝以前[編輯]
英格蘭盎格魯-撒克遜時期的君主，所採用的稱號為盎格魯-撒克遜人之王（英語：King of the Anglo-Saxons）或者英格蘭人之王（英語：King of the English）。一些君主則採用了其他更加誇大的變體稱號。例如：國王埃德雷德採用了：盎格魯-撒克遜人、諾森布里亞人、異教徒及不列顛人之王（英語：King of the Anglo-Saxons, Northumbrians, pagans and Britons）有些頭銜是伴隨著誇大奢侈的稱號。例如：國王埃塞爾斯坦採用了：全能上帝右手托舉至全不列顛王國王座之英格蘭人之王，（英語：King of the English, raised by the right hand of the Almighty to the Throne of the whole Kingdom of Britain）
英格蘭諾曼第王朝時期，威廉一世只採用英格蘭人之王（英語：King of the English；拉丁語：Rex Anglorum）。次子威廉二世繼位後才將蒙上帝恩典加入頭銜中。1121年，亨利一世在頭銜稱號加入了諾曼第公爵的頭銜，因為他已經在1106年從兄長羅貝爾二世手上奪取了諾曼第公國。
金雀花王朝時，亨利二世通過與阿基坦的埃莉諾的婚姻取得了更多的法國領土及財產。不久後，他便在自己的頭銜中加入了阿基坦公爵（法語：Duc d'Aquitaine）及安茹伯爵（法語：Comte d'Anjou）。1199年，約翰繼位，英格蘭人之王的頭銜被更改為英格蘭國王。此外，約翰在即位前已被父王亨利二世冊封為愛爾蘭領主（英語：Lord of Ireland），因此他便在頭銜中加入於此。此時，英格蘭國王的頭銜變成了：

1204年，英格蘭失去了諾曼第及安茹，但以上頭銜仍持續用至1259年。1328年，法王夏爾四世駕崩，卡佩王朝正支血統斷絕。腓力六世作為卡佩王朝支系繼位，造成法國王位繼承爭議。根據薩利克法，法國王位並不能由女性及其後代繼承。1340年，原本接受現實的國王愛德華三世通過其母親法蘭西的伊莎貝拉（夏爾四世之妹）對法蘭西王位宣稱，並使用法蘭西國王的頭銜，並放棄阿基坦公爵的頭銜。在1360年至1369年之間曾短暫放棄（為了獲得更多的法蘭西領土），但之後卻恢復了對王位的宣稱。
1415年，亨利五世入侵法國。雖然他承認了法王夏爾六世的地位，但迫使他簽署特魯瓦條約。1420年，夏爾六世承認亨利為法蘭西王儲及攝政王（英語：the Heir and Regent of France）亨利五世死後，其子亨利六世繼承了王太子稱號。1422年，夏爾六世駕崩，亨利六世成為正式的法蘭西國王。1558年，英格蘭正式失去所有法蘭西領土，但法蘭西國王的頭銜仍持續沿用至大不列顛及愛爾蘭聯合王國成立時。1422年後，君主頭銜保持了一整個世紀。
信仰的捍衛者[編輯]
這個詞最早用於1507年由教皇儒略二世授予蘇格蘭人之王詹姆斯四世「基督教信仰的保護者和捍衛者」的稱號。教皇的使者羅伯特·貝倫登在荷里路德修道院舉行盛大儀式。直至1521年，亨利八世抨擊馬丁·路德因而被教皇良十世封為「信仰的捍衛者」。但後來亨利八世脫離羅馬教廷後被教皇剝奪稱號，但英國國教會在隨後再次授予此稱號。後來的歷代英國國君都持有這個頭銜，直至今日。
蘇格蘭君主頭銜[編輯]
在蘇格蘭，蘇格蘭君主的稱號與英格蘭君主稱號差不多，是皮克特人之王（英語：King of Picts；低地蘇格蘭語：Leest o pechtish kings）或蘇格蘭人之王（英語：King of Scots）。此外，蘇格蘭君主還有阿爾巴國王（蘇格蘭國王）（蘇格蘭蓋爾語：righ na h-Alba）的稱號。直至瑪麗一世（蘇格蘭蓋爾語：Màiri I）及詹姆士六世及一世（英語：James VI and I；蘇格蘭蓋爾語：Seumas VI Stiùbhairt）仍在使用蘇格蘭人之王及蘇格蘭國王（女性君主為女王）的頭銜。

1660年，女王伊莉莎白一世駕崩，詹姆士六世及一世繼位，成為英格蘭、蘇格蘭、愛爾蘭三國的國王，並自稱大不列顛國王（法律上仍為英格蘭、蘇格蘭、愛爾蘭國王），這種稱號被雕刻在銀幣上。
