野鸭星团（也称为M11，或NGC 6705）是在盾牌座的一个疏散星团。它是戈特弗里德·基希在1681年发现的[3]。夏尔·梅西耶在1764年将它收录在非星天体的目录中。它的名称源自星团中较明亮恒星的排列形成一个三角形，类似于一群野鸭飞行的队形[3]，或者换个角度看，像是一只游泳的鸭子。这个星团位于盾牌座恒星云中点的东边[7]。
性质[编辑]
野鸭星团是已知的疏散星团中恒星数量最丰富、最紧凑的星团之一。它是已知规模最大的疏散星团之一，并已经被广泛的研究过。它的年龄大约是3亿1,600万年[5]，核心半径是1.23 pc，而潮汐半径是29 pc。依据使用的方法，估计星团的质量介于3,700 M☉[8]至 11,000 M☉之间[4]，最亮恒星的视星等是8等，至16.5等的恒星总数约870颗。它的集成绝对星等是-6.5等，可见光的消光为1.3星等[7]。
这个星团是富金属量，铁丰度的[Fe/H] = 0.17±0.04。尽管它很年轻，但显示出氦核作用元素的增强，这可能是因为它诞生于分子云中邻近II型超新星爆炸区的附近[5]。至少有9颗极有可能是变星，其中有两颗可能是联星；还有29颗有可能是变星[9]。这个星团距离银河中心6.8 kpc，靠近银河平面，并未远离其出生地[5]。
