原鳍鱼属〔学名：Protopterus，来自古希腊文“πρωτο- ”（拉丁转写：prōto-；意为“第一”）＋“πτερόν”（pterón；翅膀，鱼鳍）〕，又称非洲肺鱼属^[5]，是原鳍鱼科（Protopteridae，又称非洲肺鱼科^[5]）之下唯一的属，也有学者将本属归入南美肺鱼科（Lepidosirenidae），与该科的南美肺鱼属（Lepidosiren）成为姐妹群^[1]^[6]。

本属现存四种长条状的肺鱼，统称非洲肺鱼，均产自热带非洲的淡水生境，形态及生活习性都与南美肺鱼相似，捕食甲壳动物、水生昆虫的幼虫和软体动物等^[7]。

形态特征[编辑]

非洲肺鱼身形细长似鳗鱼，具有6个鳃弓与5个鳃裂^[24]。鳞片柔软，胸鳍和腹鳍呈细条状，背鳍与尾鳍融为一体。它们既能像鳗鱼一般在水中游动，也能以胸鳍和腹鳍在水底爬行^[7]。

生活习性[编辑]

非洲肺鱼在雨季开始时进入繁殖期，会在水底的泥中筑巢或挖洞，将卵产于其中，避免被其他动物取食。刚孵化出的幼鱼类似蝌蚪，生有外鳃，随著进一步的发育而长出一对鳔取代外鳃呼吸^[7]。

当河水干涸时，非洲肺鱼会在泥洞中夏蛰（一种代谢率降低的休眠状态，类似冬眠），同时体表分泌出粘液形成一层茧状物，将自身包裹在内度过旱季^[24]。通过这种方式，它们能在干燥河床硬化的泥洞中生存数月之久^[7]。
