直背假鳃鳉，为辐鳍鱼纲鲤齿目鰕鳉亚目鰕鳉科的其中一种，为热带淡水鱼，分布于非洲马拉维、莫桑比克、津巴布韦与南非淡水流域，体长可达10公分，栖息在季节性的水塘、溪流、沟渠底中层水域，以孑孓等为食，生活习性不明，可作为观赏鱼。
