此影片由YouTube聚光灯在2018年12月6日上传。影片聚焦在《堡垒之夜 大逃杀》并请来了威尔·史密斯，Twitch{{link-en|游戏主|Video game live streaming}}Ninja，马克斯·布朗利和约翰·奥利弗等人出演[4]。这亦是YouTube年度回顾影片系列中第一个结合了动画和真人动作的视频。

影片在发布后的24小时内积累了2940万次观看次数，使其成为头24小时内观看次数第十三多的YouTube视频。此影片其后在一个星期内超越小贾斯汀的音乐影片《宝贝》成为最不受欢迎的YouTube影片[1][2][3]，并在2018年12月13日达到一千万个不喜欢，是YouTube里第一个达到一千万个不喜欢的影片；此影片同时亦是评价下跌速度最快的视频，在发布后48小时内即获得450万个不喜欢[5]。

批评[编辑]

该影片发布后即受到很多评论家，YouTuber和观众的强烈批评。许多YouTuber认为它是“有史以来最糟糕的回顾”[6][7][8][9][10][11][12]。影片被批评的地方包括官方请来不隶属于YouTube的名人如威尔·史密斯和Ninja等人出演[13]，以及YouTube排除了某些对平台产生重大影响但被认为有争议的行为，例如谢恩·多森的一系列关于杰克·保罗的纪录片、PewDiePie与印度媒体公司T-Series争夺王者宝座、罗根·保罗闯日本自杀森林以及他与KSI的拳击赛等事件[2][14][15]。

观众在视频中表达的其他批评包括视频过度地使用某些网络趋势，当中许多被归类为过时或不受欢迎，例如《要塞英雄》等[16]。影片对社会的评论也受到了极大的批评，有些人认为这些评论是被硬塞进去，使影片显得突兀。[16]也有人不满尽管霍金、艾维奇、斯特凡·卡尔·斯蒂芬森、XXXTentacion、史丹·李和史蒂芬·海伦伯格等人的死讯对YouTube社群产生了很大的影响，但是影片中却从未提及过[17]。亦有人不满虽然PewDiePie作为Youtube最大频道，但却不在影片当中[17][18]。

{{link-en|CNN-News18|CNN-News18}}将影片的失败归咎于两点。其一是YouTube为了迎合广告商的要求而把上述争议事件排除，但这也使得影片不符观众期望。其二是YouTube为了政治正确特意找来自世界各地的YouTuber出演，希望打造致力推动平权的公司形象，但YouTube就忽视了平台绝大多数观众都来自欧美这个重点，结果就做成片中不少人都不为观众所认识的尴尬境况[17]。
