多梳蛋白SUZ12是由人类SUZ12 基因所编码的蛋白质[1][2][3][4] 有报导称该锌指基因在子宫内膜基质肉瘤中位于常见染色体易位断裂点上。这些断裂点相互重组导致该基因与JAZF1两者发生融合。该基因编码的蛋白质在编码区域C端包含有一个锌指结构域。目前仍未明确该基因的特异性功能[4]。
作为多梳抑制复合物2(PRC2)的一部分,SUZ12可能与HOTAIR非编码RNA一起参与到染色质沉默之中,SUZ12利用其锌指结构域与RNA分子进行结合[5]。
