南方獵龍（Australovenator）是異特龍超科恐龍的一屬，化石發現在澳洲的下白堊紀地層，年代為阿爾比階。目前只有發現部份的顱骨及顱後骨骼。
描述及歷史
南方獵龍的正模標本（編號AODL 604）是一組部份骨骼，包括：左齒骨、牙齒、部份前肢及後肢、部份右腸骨、肋骨、及腹肋。南方獵龍是於2009年被昆士蘭博物館的Scott Hocknull等人研究、描述。模式種是溫頓南方獵龍（A. wintonensis），種名是以發現地附近的昆士蘭溫頓來命名。
根據系統發生學分析發現，南方獵龍是屬於肉食龍下目的異特龍超科，有與福井盜龍及鯊齒龍科相似的地方，是鯊齒龍科的姊妹分類單元[1]。同年，南方獵龍與數種類似鯊齒龍科的物種，被歸類於新建立的新獵龍科[2]。

古生物學
編號AODL 604標本是於溫頓西北方約60公里處發現。化石是在溫頓組（Winton Formation）的下層發現，屬於下白堊紀的阿爾布階。化石是在一層夾在砂岩層的黏土層中發現，該地層被認為過去是牛軛湖或死水潭的沉積層。在同一地點外，亦發現了蜥腳類的迪亞曼蒂納龍、雙殼綱、魚類、龜類、鱷魚及植物的化石[1]。溫頓組是個富含動物化石的地層，該地層發現過雙殼綱、腹足綱、昆蟲、肺魚類的Metaceratodus、龜類、艾西斯福德鱷（Isisfordia）、翼龍類…等化石。該地層還發現過許多恐龍化石，例如：蜥腳類的迪亞曼蒂納龍與溫頓巨龍、未命名的甲龍類與稜齒龍類。當地還發現蕨類、銀杏、裸子植物、被子植物…等植物化石[1]。
在異特龍超科，南方獵龍的體型中等[1]。牠們臀部高2公尺，身長6公尺。由於牠屬輕型的掠食動物，可比喻為當時代的獵豹[5]。就像其他的肉食龍下目，南方獵龍是雙足行走的肉食動物[6]。
