兽颌兽属（学名：Theriognathus）意为“兽的颌部”，是已灭绝合弓纲的一属，属于兽孔目的兽头亚目，化石发现于南非卡鲁盆地的小头兽组合带（Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone）与二齿兽组合带（Dicynodon Assemblage Zone），生存年代为二叠纪晚期。
兽颌兽是种大型兽头类，属于Whaitsiidae科。在1980年，Whaitsiidae科的许多属被归类为兽颌兽的异名。Whaitsia被归类为Theriognathus major，Notosollasia被归类为Theriognathus laticeps[1]。
在过去，Whaitsiidae科曾被认为是犬齿兽类的近亲，或者是犬齿兽类的祖先[2]。一个2008年研究，提出兽头亚目是个并系群，并将兽颌兽归类为犬齿兽类的姊妹分类单元[3]。一个2009年研究则提出不同看法，兽头亚目是个单系群演化支，而兽颌兽是种进阶型兽头类[4]。
