本季主要故事情节包括第100集由大卫·伯瑞纳执导，该集故事主要是Booth和Brennan回忆他们初次相识并首次合作调查案件，因而导致Booth向Brennan吐露了自己对她的感觉。此外，本集将再次有由Eric Millegan饰演的实习生Zack Addy演出。除此之外，其中一集记述Hodgins 与Angela一同被困在牢房后，他们重新开始，并决定结婚。Heather Taffet又称掘墓者(Gravedigger)所犯的多重谋杀案最终开法庭审讯，而她终于被判决罪成，但她向Brennan说此事并未告一段落。而在本季的结尾，剧中有许多人物离开美国约一年，包括Brennan与其实习生Daisy到马鲁古群岛考察多具可能是在人类进化过程有着关键作用的原始人种骸骨。而Booth则返回于伊拉克的军队作军士长以训练当地士兵逮捕叛乱分子。与此同时，Hodgins 与Angela也计划出国旅行。
本季最初应该包括一集以黑白风格的手法拍摄，但这个想法最后被福克斯电视台取消，原因是电视台同期另一系列电视连续剧危机边缘（英语：Fringe，又译：《迷离档案》），已采用该种手法拍摄。[2]而在" The Gamer in the Grease" 的一集是协助电影阿凡达宣传，是次互相推广概念是由阿凡达监制Jon Landau以及有份于本集和阿凡达演出的演员Joel David Moore提议。[3]
