NGC 5286，也称为科德韦尔84，是由恒星组成的一个球状星团，位置在半人马座，距离地球35,900^[3]光年。在这个距离，来自这个星团的光经历了星际气体和尘埃的红化，因此在UBV测光系统的E(B – V)=0.24星等。在这个星团的北方4角分有一颗裸眼可见的恒星半人马M（4.65等）^[6]。它是苏格兰天文学家詹姆士·丹露帕在澳洲发现的，并且列在他于1827年编辑的星表内^[7]。

这个星团距离银河中心29 kly（8.9 kpc），目前正在银晕内环绕著银河。它可能与麒麟座环，一个从矮星系形成但已经断裂的恒星潮汐流，有所关联。NGC 5286可能是银河系内最古老的球状星团^[6]，估计他的年龄是125.4亿岁^[5]。它不是个完美的球形，投影有著0.12的扁率^[6]。

星团中心恒星的速度弥散度是(8.1 ± 1.0) 公里/秒。根据在这个星团中心的恒星运动，它可能拥有的中介质量黑洞的质量不到星团质量的1%，而估计整个星团的质量上限是6,000太阳质量 ^[6]。
