他患有先天性的腎病，會產生無法排出的大體積結石。[46]在美國偶像結束後，他立即進行手術排出結石並重建腎功能。[47]他現在正在與護理系學生Hannah Blackwell約會。他們是2010年在一家婦女兒童避難所做志願工作時認識的。[48]他還是一個虔誠的基督教徒。[49]
