空洞星系

MCG+01-02-015是典型的空洞星系。如果本銀河系位於該星系的位置，人類在1960年代以前都不會知道宇宙中其他星系的存在[1]。

空洞星系是存在于宇宙空洞中的星系[2]。 在空洞中的星系是很罕见的。大部分的星系都存在于包围着空洞和超空洞的纤维状结构中[3][4]。许多空洞星系联合起来组成了空洞纤维结构（英语：void filament），这是迷你版的常规星系纤维结构。这些结构比正常的星系结构简单，因为他们比较少受其他星系群的影响[5]。这些结构甚至可以多到组成星系团[6]。空洞星系被认为是研究原始星系演化的极佳的例子，因为他们很少受临近星系影响，并从单纯的星际气体中诞生[7]。
