藍襪社

藍襪社（Blue Stockings Society）是18世紀中期英格蘭的一個非正式組織，主要是在女性間探討文學藝術和教育的意義。其創始人為伊利沙伯·蒙塔古，主要成員包括伊麗莎白·卡特（Elizabeth Carter）、伊麗莎白·維西（Elizabeth Vesey ）、赫斯特·沙蓬、漢娜·莫爾和弗朗西斯·伯尼^[1]。藍襪子（Bluestocking）一詞由此衍生出來，用來指受過良好教育的女性^[2]。但實際上在18世紀末，藍襪社也包含受過教育的男性^[3]，如本傑明·斯蒂林弗林特^[4]^[5]、塞繆爾·約翰遜。
