泥龟（学名：Dermatemys mawii）是泥龟科（Dermatemydidae）泥龟属（Dermatemys）下的唯一物种。它们是夜间活动及水生的龟，栖息在中美洲由墨西哥至洪都拉斯较大的河流及湖泊。
特征[编辑]
泥龟的体型较大，最大的龟壳可达65厘米(cm)长，重20公斤。
泥龟的龟壳扁平，呈实灰色或近黑色。胸甲一般呈奶白色。幼龟的龟壳中央起角，外缘有锯齿，但随著年纪渐长会逐渐消失。它们的皮肤与龟壳的颜色相近，颈上及下身有红色斑纹。雄龟的头两侧有黄色的斑纹，但雌龟没有，而且雄龟的尾巴也较长及厚。
繁殖[编辑]
泥龟于冬天介乎9月至11月筑巢。雌龟会走到河岸两边平时很少到的地方生蛋，避免泛滥影响，每次会生6-29只蛋。
保育状况[编辑]
泥龟很少饲养的。它们被过度捕猎作为食物。幼龟及蛋也可以作为食物。它们被动的天性也是易于被捕猎的原因。它们被世界自然保护联盟列为极危，故受到《濒危野生动植物种国际贸易公约》附录二的保护，禁止出口。
