似劍齒虎族（學名：Homotherini），又名似劍虎族或鋸齒虎族，為食肉目貓科下已滅絕的一族，分布於中新世至更新世[1]的北美洲、歐洲、亞洲、非洲與南美洲[2]。
描述[编辑]
相較於劍齒虎族，包括斯劍虎、巨頦虎、巴博劍齒虎，似劍齒虎族物種的上犬齒較小，但是邊緣帶有鋸齒[3][4]。這種帶有鋸齒的牙齒也曾在其他科的哺乳動物物種上出現過[5]。
演化[编辑]
針對化石中粒線體DNA的分析研究顯示，似劍齒虎約於 18 百萬年前與斯劍虎分支[6]
帶有鋸齒的劍齒可能幫助狩獵當時的草食性巨型動物群，帶有鋸齒的邊緣很適合從獵物身上撕扯下血肉。不過當劍齒碰觸到骨頭時，其邊緣可能因此磨損，或是牙齒直接斷裂，這可能會使得該個體無法再進行狩獵，進而飢餓或是死亡[4][7]。
