Windows Server 2008 R2是微软的一个服务器操作系统。在2009年10月22日发布，2009年9月14日发售。所使用的内核为Windows NT 6.1，使用同样内核的还有Windows 7。这是微软第一个仅支援64位元的操作系统。
该版本增强了Active Directory，使用了新的虚拟化和管理、IIS 7.5，和可支持256个逻辑处理器。

微软在2008年微軟專業開發者大會推出Windows Server 2008 R2作为Windows 7的服务器版。
2009年1月7日，Beta版提供给微软TechNet订阅用户和MSDN程序员以及Microsoft Connect的Windows 7程序开发者下载。两天后通过微软下载中心向公众发布。[2]
2009年4月30日，RC版提供给微软TechNet订阅用户和MSDN程序员下载。[3] 2009年5月5日通过微软下载中心向公众发布。[4]
