水猎龙（属名：Hydrorion，由希腊文的水“Hydro”、和猎人的“orion”组成，意思为水的猎者）是蛇颈龙目的一个属，生存于早侏罗纪托阿尔阶。 [1]已知化石包括德国西南波西多尼亚页岩发现的数件标本。 [2]唯一种是短鳍水猎龙（Hydrorion brachypterygius），最初先后被描述为蛇颈龙及小锁龙的一个种。[1][3]水猎龙是种较小的蛇颈龙类，最大标本身长测为4米（13英尺）。[4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]
分类[编辑]
一开始理察·欧文于1839年提出编号为BRSMG Cb 2337的标本为蛇颈龙属（Plesiosaurus）的新种－短鳍蛇颈龙（Plesiosaurus brachypterygius），理察·莱德克（Richard Lydekker）表示反对，他认为短鳍蛇颈龙属于巨首蛇颈龙（Plesiosaurus macrocephalus，现在称作巨首战殇龙，Atychodracon megacephalus）的成年体。[2]直到1923年，弗里德里希·冯·休尼（Friedrich von Huene）正式发表，认定短鳍蛇颈龙是独立一个种。[1][13]乌尔利希斯·M·怀尔德（Urlichs M Wild）于1994年，将此物种归类为小锁龙属（Microcleidus），在此之后迈克尔·W·麦施（Michael W. Maisch）和马丁·鲁克林（Martin Rücklin）于2000年，再归类为短鳍蛇颈龙。[1][14]直到2007年，弗兰齐斯卡·格罗斯曼（Franziska Großmann）创建新的属，也就是水猎龙属。[1]
