「要展示，不要敘述」（英文：Show, don't tell）是一種可用於各類文學創作中的敘事技巧，讓讀者通過行動、對話、潛台詞、思想、感覺和感受來體驗故事，而不是通過作者的解說、總結和描述。[1]該技巧強調作者應避免使用形容詞來描述故事，而是展現場景畫面，讓讀者可以自己得出結論。該技巧適用於所有形式的小說、非虛構作品、以及任何文藝作品，包括俳句[2]和意象派詩歌，但其重要性在演講、電影和劇本創作中尤為突出。 [3][4][5][6]
